We recently celebrated our 1 year anniversary.. It's hard to believe it's been one whole year since the most amazing day in Essex, CT. While part of me will always wish I could slip back into my wedding dress and do the day all over again, I have to say, I love what we have 1 year later- and wouldn't trade it for the world. Wes and I have been through a lot this year between leaving our jobs and moving cross country- and we have grown stronger with every day that has passed. I love Wes infinitely more than I did the day we got married- and am looking forward to many, many years ahead! Thank you to my wonderful husband for all 365 days of wedded bliss !
With that said- the most obvious way to celebrate your 1st year of marriage it to go on a getaway trip... to Vegas... with the Rossi's (who got married a week after us)... EPIC 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY TRIP!
We met Nick & Kristen in Vegas on Thursday morning at the Cosmopolitan- where our dear friend Scotty had gotten us a great discount! We decided to go all out and get a cabana for the day -- actually we had no choice as apparently you have to wake up at 5 am to get a seat by the pool -- but it ended up working out great and we relaxed all day by the pool.
Kris & I in the cabana [please note: taking photos next to Kristen is supremely undesirable for me as I tend to look drastically more like a ghost than normal]
Wes & I by the pool [also please note the amazing time stamp on all the photos- thanks to the Rossi's new camera]
The view from our hotel room (and Wes' favorite new hobby- taking panoramic photos)
Thursday night we went to see LOVE (naturally) - the Beatles Cirque du Soleil show. The music was awesome- and the show was great too. Not the normal Cirque du Soleil circus freaks I was hoping to see- but a very entertaining show.
We tried to take a picture the 4 of us and we were lucky enough to have a stranger join us.
Afterwards we went to TAO for dinner. I nearly fainted when I saw this sign outside. It was almost enough to make me change our flights to stay one more night... but then I remembered that this was an anniversary trip and not a Katie trip.
We ended up trying to make our way into the dance club afterwards. A highly comical event- which included at least 3 hand stamps- 2 ID checks- and a walking tour of TAO. We were there for about 25 minutes before we called it quits when we saw a girl throwing up on the elevator.
The next morning we decided to gamble a little more. There was a special going on that if you lost $100 playing slots, they would give you $100 back to play. With about 2 hours to go before our flight, Kristen and I took it upon ourselves to try to lose $100 very quickly, so we could get this promotion. We did that, and then promptly lost another $100 immediately after that. At one point I thought I won the jackpot- but no such luck- as this spin only yielded about 20 quarters.
All in all, we ended up coming out even on the trip.... even after my last ditch effort to make a little more money by playing War. Tricky game. This is probably the most accurate portrayal of me at about 1 pm before we left:
Happy belated anniversary you crazy kids! I love that pic of you guys at your wedding.
