Back From the Dead

While I was out getting lunch today, I found a smartphone on the sidewalk.  I picked it up, checked it out and sure enough, it looked like someone must have dropped it by accident and left it behind.  When I got back to my office I emailed the guy whose phone it was and he came by the office to pick it up...and let me tell you, HE WAS FIRED UP!  (Caps lock is not on, I am mimicking his reply to my email stating that I found his phone and wanted to give it back to him.)  He gave me a handshake $20 for my troubles - which while I appreciated, I tried to return - and was so happy to have his phone back we even had an awkward bro-hug/modern handshake event.  Totally awesome.

And that's what brought me back to the blog.  I wanted, no, NEEDED to share this with the world.  So while I'm here, let's bring everyone up to speed on the Mile High Hays family...

When we last left you, I had just had a wisdom tooth out and gotten yelled at by Katie for posting a picture of said tooth on the blog.  That was followed by a whirlwind tour of the US of A over the holidays as my brother and I first converged on Albany, Georgia to visit our Dad...then I came back to Denver for 48 hours of Christmas regalia with Katie's family...then both of us to Maryland to celebrate Christmas with my family...then back to Denver for another 48 hours or so before heading up to the mountains with friends for the New Years weekend.

In review: Colorado to Georgia to Colorado to Maryland to Colorado to Rocky Mountains.  Good times!

On the trip to Georgia, I got the call I had been waiting for...a new J.O.B.  (Not to be confused with this guy:)

Yes, it is true, I am back among the working as of January.  I miss my life of leisure/cereal/sweatpants/excessive working out/grocery shopping and getting stares/complete scheduling flexibility for just about everything, but I'll take income over that life.  For now.

Winter has been good so far.  We've had great visitors: Jen, Pete, the Rossi's, O'neil's, Atwood's.  We've driven through complete white-out blizzards ("NO TALKING IN THE CAR!!!"), gotten our ski on, made some chubby new friends (hellllooooo Jack Atwood!), and have a few more fun trips planned in the coming months.  If you're lucky, we're bringing our circus to your town!
Check out Mike's aggressive goggles...

Did I mention we bought a house???  Perhaps another blog post to come...
